SIFT Farm has already secured a Norwegian pilot license for 20 tons of salmon and trout (steelhead) per year at its current site in Tromsø, which is to be extended to include marine fish such as wolffish, cod, halibut, and arctic char.

SIFT Farm is planned to be expanded and updated gradually to accommodate the full-scale demonstration farm with an annual capacity of 2,500 tons of salmon, grown from eggs to market sizes.

A permit application to build a full-scale commercial salmon farm is currently under review in Tromsø municipality, aiming to produce 1,000 grams of salmon (smolt) for sale to other farmers for grow-out.

The permit is expected to be concluded by the end of 2025 or early 2026. No regulatory objections are registered. The farm design enables the production of 5 to 6 kg of salmon, provided that regulations permit.
